Michelle grew up in Calgary, AB doing intense competitive dance from a very young age. She completed her ADAPT & RAD exams in Jazz, Tap and Ballet, and attended numerous conventions around the city. She discovered her love for contemporary & modern dance during her time in the performing and visual arts program at her high school, and during her Grade 12 year, she auditioned for The School of Toronto Dance Theatre’s Professional Training Program. After being accepted, she made the move to Toronto and never looked back.
During the 3-year training program, she learned from some of the greatest pioneers of modern dance: remounting choreographic works, taking classes such as conditioning, nutrition, music, and anatomy, and, of course, spending hours training in different dance styles and rehearsing for shows.
After graduating, she worked in the industry for a few years, getting the chance to perform throughout Ontario and Montreal.
She eventually found her love for Barre, and became a certified Barre instructor with a beginning education in Pre/Post Natal Barre, through the Certified by Barreworks program.
After moving from Toronto, a city she called home for 12 years, to Hamilton, she joined the team at Studio Technique in 2023.
Michelle recently completed the STOTT Intensive Pilates Reformer course, an internationally known Pilates program, and is now also teaching apprentice Reformer classes. She has always had a passion for movement, and has found her purpose in guiding people through safe and effective Barre & Pilates workouts, helping them to build strength & confidence, and keeping them motivated to find the joy in moving.
